It’s Valentine’s Day, and couples everywhere are scrambling to make special plans with each other to commemorate this occasion. Looking out our window, with snow on the ground and black ice just melting from last night, I’m grateful for love. Not just cheesy, superficial love … but the kind that endures through years and isn’t always glamourous. The kind of love that you want to grow old together with. The kind that gets you through the rough times and the easy times.
The kind that stops, when the dishes need done and the house is dirty and the kids want your attention and just pauses for a moment … sweeping you off your feet with an earnest kiss, because that kiss means so much more than I Love You. It means that you’ve stuck together through this much of life, and you’re not about to stop now. It’s a whisper in your ear that says I don’t ever want to do this with anyone but you.
